March 25, 2014 | Bismarck Tribune | A fatal rail car explosion near Quebec, Canada, last July and a December train explosion near Casselton, N.D., in December grabbed the attention of federal regulators, and Bakken crude transported by rail has been under heavy scrutiny ever since.

Efforts to heighten rail safety have resulted in new standards and an analysis of crude oil and the rail cars that carry it throughout the country.
