Train derailment likely caused by broken rail

November 26, 2014 | Standard-Times| SAN ANGELO, Texas – Several train cars derailed east of Talpa early Wednesday morning, and no one was injured, said a Texas-Pacífico Transportation LTD spokeswoman said.

Officials believe the derailment was caused by a broken rail and not by an operation error by their crews, Liz Grindstaff, vice president of sales and marketing for Texas-Pacifico.

Fifteen out of 100 cars loaded with frac sand were damaged, according to a TXPF news release.
