Derailment spills hazardous chemicals in S.C.

January 27, 2015 | CBS News | A train derailment in South Carolina early Tuesday resulted in the spillage of seven hazardous materials and the evacuation of a nearby chemical plant, authorities say.

It was unclear if anyone was injured, how many cars were involved or what the materials are, the Allendale County, South Carolina sheriff’s office told CBS News. The Clariant Chemical plant was evacuated, sheriff’s officials said.

CBS Augusta, Georgia affiliate WRDW-TV reports the several roads were blocked off by officers at the scene of the derailment.
