Local advocacy group speaks out after Iowa train derailment

February 5, 2015 | WXOW|A train derailment in Dubuque, Iowa Thursday comes as a proposal to expand railroad tracks in La Crosse is under review. The Department of Natural Resources is considering the request since it would cut through a portion of the La Crosse River marsh. Thursday a local advocacy group, Citizens Acting for Fail Safety, CARS reacted to the Iowa derailment by demanding further research into the environmental impact of the La Crosse project.

CARS said the derailment is one more example of what could happen in the La Crosse community.
