April 29, 2015 | WISN |WISN 12 News first investigated the large amount of crude oil passing through Milwaukee. It now has city leaders talking about how to keep everyone safe.
Residents, and the Milwaukee Public Works Committee, had questions for the state’s railroad commissioner on Wednesday. “How many inspectors are out there checking the rails themselves?” Alderman Bob Donovan asked.
Commissioner Jeff Plale said the federal government regulates railroads. He said there are two federal inspectors for every 4,000 miles of rail in the state.
