Victims of WV train derailment file lawsuit against CSX

September 2, 2015 | WOWK| More than 200 victims of the Feb. 16 oil train derailment and explosion at Mt. Carbon, W.Va. have filed suit against CSX.

The complaint, filed in Wayne County, alleges nuisance, trespass, economic loss, property damage and present and future expenses for monitoring and cleanup.  It also requests punitive damages.

The lawsuit seeks damages from CSX for negligence that caused property damage, economic damage, property devaluation and exposed residents to harmful chemicals. Attorneys filing the suit are: The Bryant Law Center of Paducah, Ky.; P Rodney Jackson of Charleston, W.Va., Travis Griffith of Charleston, W.Va. and Fayard and Honeycutt of Denham Springs, La.
