Train carrying sulfuric acid derails in Big Sandy


October 15, 2015 | CBS19| UPDATE: BIG SANDY (KYTX) – The clean-up is underway after a train derailment early Thursday near Hwy 80 in Big Sandy.

According to Big Sandy Fire Chief Chris Overby, 11 cars derailed shortly after 4:00 a.m. Two of the tanker cars containing sulfuric acid are on their side. The tanker cars are not leaking, and there were no evacuations. Union Pacific arrived on scene quickly and determined no threat to the community.
