Federal Railroad Administration proposes “two-crew minimum”


April 20, 2016 | WXOW | The Federal Railroad Administration has released a proposal to require all freight and passenger trains across the country to operate with a crew of no fewer than two people.

The proposed mandate follows a year with a number of train derailments and accidents including one in Quebec that killed 47 people.

The Wisconsin AFL-CIO agrees with the proposal and believes an additional person aboard a train will help minimize accidents attributed to human error.
