Washout causes derailment near Ferryville; no injuries reported


September 22, 2016 | La Crosse Tribune | A BNSF freight train derailed and leaked diesel fuel Thursday morning after tracks washed out north of Ferryville as a second night of heavy rains triggered flooding and mudslides.

Two locomotives and five rail cars left the tracks around 5:40 a.m. as the result of a washout north of a bridge over Rush Creek, according to the railroad.
